U.S. Customs and Border Safety is conscious of quite a few phone scams concentrating on residents nationwide. 

“People nationwide have acquired unsolicited calls from scammers posing as U.S. Border Patrol brokers and U.S. Customs and Border Safety officers,” CBP wrote in a press launch. “Residents are reporting calls with a pre-recorded message stating, ‘a field of medication and cash being shipped has your title on it and has been intercepted.'”

Different residents have reported calls from people claiming to be CBP staff and informing name recipients that there’s a warrant for his or her arrest or requesting data in alternate for Bitcoin, in response to the discharge. In both case, the resident is instructed to offer banking data or different personally identifiable data, reminiscent of social safety numbers or dates of beginning.

These calls are cellphone scams/phishing makes an attempt and have been round for the previous couple of years, CBP stated. Residents are urged to not present the caller with any data. The Division of Homeland Safety and CBP doesn’t solicit cash over the cellphone, nor does it use Bitcoin different digital forex or present playing cards.
