Bitcoin Gaming Rewards App Developed By GMO Internet
Japanese technology giant GMO Internet Group has developed a new mobile app that enables users to earn bitcoin by playing games.
Called CryptoChips, the new app can be mounted on the game application and allows players to receive bitcoin as remuneration within the game depending on the players’ rankings or when players have achieved missions or acquired items. The players must have their own crypo wallets to receive the remuneration.
As the first initiative, CryptoChips will be implemented in GMO-developed real-time battle game Whimsical War, which is available in the iOS App Store and the Google Play store. The company will distribute bitcoin in accordance with player rankings in the game starting in August. The mobile app will also be mounted on the group’s other game applications and will eventually include competitors’ game titles.
“As for the management and distribution of cryptocurrency, we employ a multi-signature – a service that distributes and saves multiple private keys to access cryptocurrency – developed by the GMO System Consulting, Inc,” the company said. “We keep one of the private keys managing multi-signature address, and verify the user’s or key person’s signature to realize a proper transfer of cryptocurrencies.”
The move is part of GMO’s goal to improve people’s understanding of the nascent cryptocurrency market. The company already runs its own exchange, mining operation and even pays a portion of staff salaries in bitcoin. Last month, GMO announced that it will be launching GMO miner B2, a mining machine equipped with mining chips using a 7nm process technology, on June 6.
